Abstract:
Introduction. The number of Medical gratuates choosing careers in psychiatry is in decline. In order to determine whether this disinclination toward psychiatry occurs before versus during medical school, this study, surveyed medical students at the start of their freshman year and last year of Medical educations. Methods. 100 freshman medical students and 100 of interns from three medical schools of Shiraz, Jahroum and Fasaa Were survyed with a questionaire designed to assess their perceptions of careers in various specialties. Results.: ¼ of first year and ⅓ of last year student completely ruledout psychiatry future job as there was no significant difference between first and last year student in regard to their attitude towards psychiatry.
